  About Jennifer Hope

Jennifer Hope, Voice Teacher, Audition Coach, and Repertoire Consultant

Jennifer Hope is a local voice teacher and audition coach with over three decades of experience performing around the United States and internationally. Since beginning her career at the age of 16, Jennifer has been seen by over half a million people in 43 states around the United States, and on 5 continents.

While she was still in high school, Jennifer was chosen to perform as a soloist with Luciano Pavarotti at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Thinking this meant she was destined for a career in opera, she packed her bags and headed to the Mason Gross School of the Arts Conservatory at Rutgers University. Four years later, having performed with Jessye Norman and Jason Robards, among others, and having sung in several internationally acclaimed choirs, as well as been a professional soloist around NY and NJ, Jennifer was more convinced than ever that what she really wanted to do was musical theater.

She toured the United States and Canada in several shows before embarking on a contract as the Celebrity Singer on the M/V Horizon at sea. Very shortly thereafter, she was approached by the entertainment director to expand her success into a headline show for the cruise line, which she performed weekly for nearly 4 years.

The new millennium found Jennifer returning to land, where she began to play a series of well-known parts (including Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Baroness Elsa Schraeder in Sound of Music, Maria in West Side Story, and the voice coach Phoebe Dinsmore in Singin’ in the Rain, the wettest show Jennifer has done to date).

A brief hiatus in between shows allowed Jennifer to take a few private students under her wing. When she began hearing that they were discovered and sent packing on a national tour of a well-known classic show, she suddenly found herself in demand for her talents as an audition coach and private voice teacher and career consultant.

Jennifer has been called “… a major talent”, “…a performer who combines the best of Barbra Streisand’s pep with Bette Midler’s bawdiness”, and “a woman with… a lustrous singing voice. (Hope) even knows how to whistle.”

Jennifer's students have gone on to have successful careers as professional performers in their own right. Her students can be seen on Broadway tours, on television, in films, and in print and radio work.

Some of her past students include Dylan Perlman (Co-Owner of Argyle Theatre in Babylon, NY and veteran of National Tour, On Golden Pond), Reed Latrowski (National Tour, Oliver), Madison Mullahey (National Tours, Shrek and Mary Poppins), Justine Re (Correspondent for News 12 LI and The Sound of Music, John W. Engeman Theater), and Rebecca Goldfarb (Fiddler on the Roof at Gateway Playhouse and Godspell Cast of 2032, Circle in the Square).

Jennifer has a library of several hundred piano vocal scores for Broadway shows and is an experienced audition repertoire consultant for college level and professional auditions.
